Incorporating cultures has never been more fulfilling. The Bride Nko, has strong roots in Trinidad and Tobago, while Lukman, a sculptor, hails from Nigeria. The goal of planning this event was to blend both cultures seamlessly, and I believe we accomplished that with a traditional wedding the grooms home country and a “white wedding” in Houston Texas.
Very intimate by design, we began with a candlelit ceremony officiated by the Brides mother, moved into a cocktail hour which served local Trinidad and Nigerian dishes and rounded off the night with a reception full of African Drummers, Steel Pan, and Trinidad and Nigerian flags waving high high high. There wasn’t a dull moment the entire wedding nor was there a dry eye in the room.
