Parties: Team MoKa…Mocktails n Munchies

Tamika & Maurice are expecting their second bambino and instead of duplicating the first HUGE shower, we “flipped the script” and planned an intimate event for just her and her girls….well kinda the DJ and photographer got a testosterone pass. but that was it! We had…

…some of her faves. The color black, balloons, and stripes

…A mash potato bar… YUMM!!!

…munchies… mini helpings of everything

…a shot of Brandy to turn your Mocktail into a Cocktail

…pops of hot pink for the baby girl on the way

…O.M.G… Red Velvet mini cakes for each and EVERY Guest.
Just plain ole’yummikins

…good wishes for when she ties the knot
…siggy drinks.

…a Brandy rose

After being a part of very big baby showers this was a nice refreshing change from the norm. Everyone had fun and we all wished the expectant mom and soon to be wife all the blessings life has to offer.

PS: I can’t wait to meet the baby. If she looks anything like her big sister she will be a little heartbreaker:)

With the help of these fantastic vendors- Mocktails ‘n’ Munchies was a success

Planning: Coming Attractions

In the next few weeks the cinemas will be bursting with wedding type movies. Take a look at some of the coming attractions that will be gracing a theater near you:
This should be a welcome reprieve for you brides. Especially if you are in the midst of making final decisions on your upcoming nuptials and are stressed to the max. Take a step back, grab some of your besties and let loose for a few hours. You know “they” say laughter is the best medicine. And what better way to lighten up about your wedding planning than to see someone else stress out about theirs (on the big screen of course).

Planning: Music To Your Ears

CD’s continue to be a very popular favor option. As they should be, they can say “Thank You” to almost any event. And with so many ways of personalizing, you can make each one very special for your event. Take a look at some ways, you can create your CD favors for different events:

Baby Showers:

  • compile a cd of songs that have baby in the title
  • compile a CD of songs that have the gender in the title
  • compile a CD of lullaby’s
  • compile a CD of songs that incorporate the theme of the baby shower

  • compile a CD of songs you intend to play at your wedding
  • compile a CD of traditional wedding songs
  • compile a CD of songs that you and your honey have danced to
  • compile a CD of songs that tie in the theme of your wedding
  • compile a CD of popular songs from the year/month you your honey met
  • compile a CD of popular songs from your favorite genre of music

“Other” Celebrations:

  • compile a CD of your favorite party songs
  • For a milestone Birthday, compile a CD of the top songs from your birth year
  • For children’s birthday’s, compile a CD of children songs from a popular kids shows

And to top it off, you can adorn your CD favor with decorative CD holder, ribbons, fancy labels…the options are endless. Are you planning on using a CD for your next event?

Planning: Front and Center

Not a fan of big poofy expensive floral centerpiece? Then don’t use them. Yes, when you attend a wedding or other event, the centerpieces are typically floral but that does not mean yours have to be. There are so many other options to use to make a statement that does not involve a a large expensive floral centerpiece. For instance:

  • Candles make a fabulous alternative to the typical floral centerpiece. As an extra added bonus, the flicker of the candle light adds a nice warm glow to the atmosphere
  • Try creating a fruit topiary or arrangement. Incorporate fruits with similar color palettes that add to the overall decor. Stay away from fruits with strong odors. You do not want the fruity smell to compromise your pallet
  • Try using natural elements, like stones, branches, shells. Take cues from the theme of your event. If you are having a beachy affair. Use shells in differing sizes colors and shapes. Starfish, sand and river rocks pair nicely with them as well.
  • Another option is an edible centerpiece. Instead of having one big cake, you can serve each table individual cakes and use a centerpiece. This is my LEAST favorite option, because you will be left centerpiece-less once it is eaten. (keep that in mind)
  • Candelabras or lamps make for a very show stopping option. As well as add lighting to your table.
  • Feathers. Ethereal, very fun and flirty. This options translates well amongst most occasions.

Whatever you choose, you almost cannot go wrong (…I said almost). The direction you choose should be taken from the style, vision and formality of the event. Pull elements from each and infuse your creativity and sense of uniqueness.

Pretty Little Things: Cookies

In my opinion the best shower/party/wedding favor is an edible one. I mean do you really need another mini picture frame or candle shaped like a wedding cake. At least with edible favors they are not only cute but also functional and hopefully delectable. One of my faves ( and there are many), are sugar cookies. Look at these cute versions below that would make great favor options for a bridal shower or Thank you Gift.

How cute are they. I would be all over the cheetah purse and shoe. They almost look too good to eat…Almost.
And available along with some of the “Thank you” Cookies:

These flowery boxes are adorable. I would cluster a few of the boxes on the table so they double as a centerpiece.

Pretty Little Things: It’s in the Bag

I have had my eye on these cute little sparkly gift bags for weeks now. Waiting for a “good” reason to buy and not just because they are shiny and sparkly. Well I finally had my opportunity, it is (well…was) Wednesday. Good enough reason for me.

Take a look at the variety of colors:

The bags retail for $3.95 at Papyrus. These will make great gift bags for a bridal shower. Decorate with favor tags and coordinating or complimenting tissue paper. Insert your guest favors and display them as room decor then hand them out as they depart.

**Your guest typically see the packaging before they see the prize inside. So make sure you are giving it equal attention.**
