Parties: Team JoKita…Chevron Baby

This was a first for me. I was hired by a friend Penelope “Rum” to design a babyshower for first time expectant mommy and daddy; Joesph and Nikita aka Team JoKita. I had my reservations at first but I LOVED Rum and she spoke so highly of our first encounter ( when I planned a babyshower for one of her besties). So I said why not…let’s give this a shot.

My first meeting with Nikita was nerve wracking (for the both of us). She was worried I would give her pin ons, wicker chairs and ceramic favors. I was worried that she wanted pin ons, wicker chairs and ceramic favors. Well it turns out, we both HATED all of the above and wanted no part of it.  They wanted a chevron, yellow and grey with touches of blue, light & airy,  baby shower to welcome their little boy, soon to join them in happy family-dom. Take a look at what JunePlumm Events delivered:

I may say this allot but this has been one of my favorite showers. I just LOVE Chevron and loved to work with it for Team JoKita.

As with any event it takes a village to bring all the elements together. Team JoKita’s Village consisted of:

Planning/Design: JunePlumm Events
Photography: JIF Photography
Stationary: Talia Felicia Events + Design
Linens: Elezye’s Elegant Cover up’s (chevron)  & All Affairs Rental (solids)
Cakes: Akila’s Kustom Kreations
Venue: Hope City Empowerment Center

You guys are AWESOME!

Parties: Team MoKa…Mocktails n Munchies

Tamika & Maurice are expecting their second bambino and instead of duplicating the first HUGE shower, we “flipped the script” and planned an intimate event for just her and her girls….well kinda the DJ and photographer got a testosterone pass. but that was it! We had…

…some of her faves. The color black, balloons, and stripes

…A mash potato bar… YUMM!!!

…munchies… mini helpings of everything

…a shot of Brandy to turn your Mocktail into a Cocktail

…pops of hot pink for the baby girl on the way

…O.M.G… Red Velvet mini cakes for each and EVERY Guest.
Just plain ole’yummikins

…good wishes for when she ties the knot
…siggy drinks.

…a Brandy rose

After being a part of very big baby showers this was a nice refreshing change from the norm. Everyone had fun and we all wished the expectant mom and soon to be wife all the blessings life has to offer.

PS: I can’t wait to meet the baby. If she looks anything like her big sister she will be a little heartbreaker:)

With the help of these fantastic vendors- Mocktails ‘n’ Munchies was a success

Parties: Rion & KC – A Baby Shower fit for a “King”

I sat down with Rion and KC 4 weeks before their babyshower.  They had NO theme, NO venue & NO clue what to do. The only thing they knew was the soon to be born son will be nicknamed “KING”.  Naturally I did what I do with a lot of my couples…brainstorm…and asked “let’s just run down a list of things you both love”:

  • KC: Gold & Gambling

…amongst others. So with a bit more brainstorming and some direction,  we decided on a red and gold Royal King Theme. Take a look at some of the details from this shower:

We had a great time working with Rion and KC and am now pleased to report that baby Kairo (or Cairo) was delivered safely on Friday Novemeber 2, 2012 in Brooklyn, New York.  Mom is a trooper and dad is probably still speachless. I can’t wait to see baby pics:)
And also, THANKS to the following vendors that helped us make this happen:

Parties: King of the Jungle Baby Shower – A JunePlumm Event

Next to weddings, baby showers are our favorite events. All the cuteness and the fluff and the eagerness to see what baby looks like when he/she is born is so exciting. Well in this case it was SO exciting that the young Prince Kayden made a special delivery a month early (a week before the shower). Thankfully mom, dad and baby are all fine and was STILL able to enjoy the King of The Jungle Theme Baby Shower. Here are a few pics from the wild affair:

Pretty Little Things: Happy Birthday Brookie

In a previous post I alluded to being a Godmother in waiting. Well I’m waiting no more. My Goddaughter Brooke Lynne Jones was born on October 4, 2010 at 4:31PM. So far I am having loads of fun just watching her big cheeks get even bigger and her cute facial expressions while she sleeps.
So take a look at the cutiepie that is making JunePlumm happy these days.

Planning: The Other Flower (again)

I often look back at previous blog posts to see what was on my mind in the past. Well in true form I checked my blog to see what I was talking about one year ago today and saw that on September 23, 2009 I was talking about carnations. I have grown very fond of these flowers over the years and every year my admiration for them grows much stronger. I know they do not get as much love as roses, and orchids or other more “fashionable” flowers but a cluster of carnations can make a very beautiful statement.

Take a stroll down memory lane with me and see what we thought of carnations then (and now).
In addition, below are examples of how I have used simple carnations in two recent events.

How have you used carnations in your event?

Parties: A Beary Special Event!

Have I mentioned before how much I just adore baby showers. They are the cutest, fluffiest and sweetest events EVER. And the mere fact that there are babies involved, that’s reason enough for me to want to put my creative mind at work. Next to weddings it is my favorite event to plan, so you know I was excited when I was contacted to plan a teddy bear friendly shower for a special mom and dad preparing to welcome their first child.

Mom had few requests:

  • She loves teddy bears/stuffed animals
  • She didn’t want a gender specific shower
  • She wasn’t into all the ” typical stuff” aka games

So armed with sugar and spice and everything nice the JunePlumm Events Posse’ executed a baby shower full of teddy bears, carnations and tissue poms (my faves). Here is a peek-a-boo into a the Beary Special Baby Shower for a Beary Special Couple.

Congratulations! Murielle & Quincy. And THANK YOU for allowing JunePlumm Events to take part in such a special occasion.

Planning: Music To Your Ears

CD’s continue to be a very popular favor option. As they should be, they can say “Thank You” to almost any event. And with so many ways of personalizing, you can make each one very special for your event. Take a look at some ways, you can create your CD favors for different events:

Baby Showers:

  • compile a cd of songs that have baby in the title
  • compile a CD of songs that have the gender in the title
  • compile a CD of lullaby’s
  • compile a CD of songs that incorporate the theme of the baby shower

  • compile a CD of songs you intend to play at your wedding
  • compile a CD of traditional wedding songs
  • compile a CD of songs that you and your honey have danced to
  • compile a CD of songs that tie in the theme of your wedding
  • compile a CD of popular songs from the year/month you your honey met
  • compile a CD of popular songs from your favorite genre of music

“Other” Celebrations:

  • compile a CD of your favorite party songs
  • For a milestone Birthday, compile a CD of the top songs from your birth year
  • For children’s birthday’s, compile a CD of children songs from a popular kids shows

And to top it off, you can adorn your CD favor with decorative CD holder, ribbons, fancy labels…the options are endless. Are you planning on using a CD for your next event?

Pretty Little Things: It’s a Boy!!!

Two months ago, I had the pleasure of consulting on a baby shower for a very special client. Wendy Hamilton was blessed with the empending birth of her first child and her friends and family wanted to make sure she had the best time ever. Her hostesses conveyed to me that they wanted it to be fun, interactive and personal to who they know Wendy to be. So we put our heads together and viola’, a Teacher’s Pet themed baby shower was born (psst. the mom to be is a teacher).

Still on high from her shower and about 2 weeks away from her due date, I was pleased to hear that this past Halloween, while you were out trick or treating, Wendy was busy delivering a beautiful baby boy. Isaiah Destyn Bedward-Hamilton was born on October 31, 2009 at 4:52 pm and weighed 6 pounds 7 ounces and couldn’t be cuter.

So, on behalf of JunePlumm Events, I would like to take this opportunity to send a very very very special CONGRATULATIONS to mommy and baby. May your lives be blessed with many days and nights of memorable experiences.

Below are some amateur pics from the shower:
